وفي هذا العمل ينقل الأمير آراء الناس ورواياتهم ويشغفها برأيه الخاص، أما الفصول المتعلقة بالأندلس فجاءت نقلاً عن المسعودي، وابن حوقل، والشريف الأدريسي وياقوت الحموي وآخرون، وإتماماً للفائدة تزين هذا الكتاب بأطالس جغرافية، محررة فيها أسماء البقاع والمدن، باللغة العربية، وبهذا يكون تقسيم الكتاب إلى قسمين جغرافية وتاريخ بمثابة اكتمال للعمل الذي جمع فيه مؤلفه القديم إلى الحديث ومقارناً ما كتبه العرب بما كتبه الفرنج والغرض من ذلك تعريف ناشئة العرب بالأندلس العربية وأدبائها الكبار، وأمراء الإسلام ومنهم الأمير الكبير "عمر طوسون" الذي كان أمين هذه الأمة في كل ملمة، ومفزعها في كل مهمة. والذي جمعت الأمير به صلة تزيد على خمس وعشرين سنة، من أيام الحرب الطرابلسية إلى الحرب البلقانية، إلى الحرب الكبرى...
