تنطلق هذه الدراسة من المقومات العامة للجمال الفني وخصائص اللغة الشعرية كما تمخّض عنها الدرس الأسلوبي الحديث لتعالج في ضوء ذلك أصول الوظيفة الجمالية للأسلوب في البلاغة العربية.
وهي بذلك محاولة لإبراز الملامح الجمالية عند البلاغيين وإستجلاء معالم الأسلوب الفني في التراث البلاغي، وأهم المقومات التي شكّلت تصوّر البلاغيين العرب لأدبيّة اللغة وميّزت تناولهم لجمالية الأسلوب.
وهي بعد ذلك لملمة لجزئيات البلاغة العربية ومصطلحاتها، وإبراز للكليات والأصول التي تندرج ضمنها هذه الجزئيات وتدور في فلكها.
ونزعم أن المقومات والعناصر الجمالية التي توصلنا إليها تمثل قضايا ومحاور كبرى، ليس في البلاغة العربية فحسب، بل في عامة المباحث الجمالية، والإتجاهات الفنية، وقد أمكننا بذلك أن نمدّ خيطاً ينتظم الدراسات النقدية والأسلوبية الحديثة في مقاربتها للظاهرة الأدبية الجمالية، وجلّ مباحث البلاغة العربية القديمة.
