يُعد حمزة باحث وصحافي سعودي، حائز على شهادة دكتوراه في العلوم السياسية من جامعة وستمنستر البريطانية. متخصّص في الشأن السعودي ومسائل الإصلاح السياسي في المملكة العربية السعودية. صدر له العديد من الكتب. كان في عام 2011 قد بدأ الاستعداد في العاصمة البريطانية لإطلاق أول قناة معارضة شيعية للنظام السعودي، وأوضح أن القناة سيكون هدفها المطالبة بحقوق الشيعة السعوديين، وذلك بالتعاون مع وسائل الإعلام العالمية ومنظمات حقوق الإنسان الدولية.

إن محاولة الفهم وسبر بعض أبعاد الطقوس وأهميتها تغني الباحث على المستوى الشخصي عن الخوض في النقاشات الفقهية والجدل بشأن مشروعية بعضها ولأهمية التحقيق في الشعائر يستطيع الباحث أن يتلمس جوانب مهمة في حياة الطقس ومعتنقيه ويشعر ما يشعرون به ويدرك لماذا هو مهم في حياتهم ولماذا هم يتجادلون حوله ولماذا حاز هذا الامتياز الجدلي السياسي الديني والاجتماعي الممتد منذ قرون حيث يتعرف الباحث إلى معاني الطقوس ونشأتها والصراع بشأنها سياسياً واجتماعياً وموقعها حول بقية المجتمعات يكون قد اكتشف باباً لعوالم مختلفة كانت مغلقة أو لم يكن يشعر كثيرون بقيمتها الحقيقية.
