الجزائري (1256 - 1331 هـ = 1840 - 1913 م)
محمد (باشا) ابن الأمير عبد القادر ابن محيي الدين الحسني الجزائري: مؤرخ، من فضلاء الأعيان.
ولد على الأرجح في ولاية وهران بالجزائر ونشأ وعاش في دمشق، وقد سكنها أبوه سنة 1271 هـ.
وعكف على سيرة أبيه، فجمع ما تفرق منها، وسماها (تحفة الزائر في مآثر الأمير عبد القادر - ط) في جزءين، أحدهما سيرته السيفية، في حروبه مع الفرنسيس، والثاني سيرته العلمية.
وله (عقد الأجياد في الصافنات الجياد - ط) ومختصره (نخبة عقد الأجياد - ط) كلاهما في الخيل ومحاسنها وما قيل فيها، و (مجموع ثلاث رسائل - ط) إحداها (ذكرى ذوي الفضل في مطابقة أركان الإسلام للعقل) والثانية
(كشف النقاب عن أسرار الاحتجاب) والثالثة (الفاروق والترياق في تعدد الزوجات والطلاق) وكان يحمل رتبة فريق في الجيش العثماني.
وتوفي بالآستانة

يُعد هذا الكتاب واحد من كتب الأمير محمد بن اللأمير عبد القادر الجزائري القليلة. تحدث فيه عن فضل الخيل في القرآن والسنة وعند العرب، وعن أنواعها وألوانها ودلائل نجابتها، ثم عن طبائعها وصهيلها ونعوتها المختلفة.
كما تحدث عن حياتها وتربيتها وعلاجها، وعن الفروسية والسباق، وأخيراً عن خيول النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم.
وبذلك جمع هذال الكتاب اللطيف بين التاريخ والأدب والرياضة وعلم الحيوان.
