والكتاب في أصله العلمي هو ترجمة لكتاب A Textbook in Orthodontics نقله من الإنكليزية إلى العربية الدكتور محمد يونس حجير / أستاذ في قسم تقويم الأسنان والفكين في كلية طب الأسنان بجامعة البعث – سورية. وجعله في ستة أجزاء انطوت تحت عناوينها الرئيسية (30) فصلاً. تناولت "النمو والتطور" ، "التشخيص" ، "الأجهزة التقويمية" ن "المعالجة واعتبارات علاجية" ، "مظاهر أخرى تتعلق بالمعالجة التقويمية" ، وأخيراً "تقويم الأسنان والمعالجات المؤازرة".
يكتسب الكتاب أهميته بالنظر إلى ما يكتنزه من معلومات في مجال مهنة (طب الأسنان) من الناحية النظرية والتطبيقية. فهو يحتوي على تجارب وأبحاث وشروحات مهمة ترافقها صور ورسومات خاصة بكل حالة ينجزها جرّاح الفم والوجه والفكين بالإرتباط مع المعالجة التقويمية.
