إنَّ المعتقدات الدينية هي مجموعة من العقائد، والأحكام والأخلاق، والآداب والسياسات العامة، وكل ما يتعلّق بسلوك حياة الإنسان تؤدّي إلى الإنحراف والتّيه والضلال.
ومن هنا أيضاً ولعدم التمييز بين المعتقدات الدينية والتقاليد العرفية يبدأ الخلط بين ما له علاقة بالدِّين وما ليس له علاقة به.
وبعد مرور مئات السنين، وتضخّم التجربة الإنسانية بإعتناق الأحكام الدينية، يظهر لنا أنَّ أموراً اختلطت بين الناس، وتكاثرت من دون وجود دليل عليها، ممّا يؤدّي إلى الإستنتاج أنَّ الناس يعتقدون بأمور، قد يكون لها أصل شرعي وقد لا يكون لها أصل شرعي.
ولو وقفنا عند معتقدات العوام من الناس وقفة دقيقة ومعمّقة ومليّة، لظهرت لنا الأباطيل والخرافات التي تروّج من حين إلى آخر، ولأجل تبرئة الدِّين الإسلامي وأحكامه ودراسته دراسة علمية محيطة بكافة أقسام الشريعة لأجل ذلك كان هذا الكتاب.
