الكتاب وكما هو معروف فيه مقدمات : المقدمة الأولى : في معاني الحكمة . المقدمة الثانية : في شرائط طالب الحكمة . المقدمة الثالثة : منهجية دراسة الحكمة . المقدمة الرابعة : في ما يصدّر به العلم ؛ لإعطاء الطالب تصوراً إجمالياً عن العلم الذي هو بصدد دراسته .
وفي الكتاب أيضاً شرح في الحمد والهداية والإلهام وفي معنى الأصول والجمل والتفريع والتفصيل ووجوب الإبتداء بالمنطق . وفي تعريف المنطق والفكر وبيان الغرض من المنطق وانقسام الفكر في التصور والتصديق ، وفي ارتباط اللفظ بالمعنى ، وكيفية استرجاع المعلومات الذهنية ، كما في تعريف الدلالة وأقسامها : في المحمول وفي اللفظ المفرد والمركب ، واللفظ الجزئي الكلي ، والكلي الذاتي والعرضي ؛ والذاتي المقوم وغير المقوم ثم الألفاظ الخمس ، والحدّ والرسم ، وترتيب الجنس والنوع ، وأحكام المقسم والمقوّم ، ورسوم الكليات الخمس ، وفي أصناف الخطأ ، وغيرها من أحكام المنطق ... ذات الصلة .
