ويجد القارئ في هذا الكتاب تحليلاً شاملاً لأحداث الصراع وخلفياته ولا سيما الدينية منها، فلم تقبل الدولة الأوروبية بإسم المسيحية أن يتوسع العثمانيون على الأراضي الأوروبية ولا سيما في أوروبا الشرقية وبلاد البلقان ولم يقبلوا أن يمتد نفوذ الإمبراطورية العثمانية في المتوسط لأسباب إقتصادية وعقائدية في آن.
