ما تزال الطبيعة المُلهم الأول لأرباب الإبداع وعلى رأسهم الشعراء يستوحون منها تجربتهم الشعرية، والشاعر فرحان الفيفي جاء اختياره هنا انتقائياً؛ فاختار لكونه الشعري "شرفات الشيح"، وجعل منها عنواناً لقصائدٍ تسير على دروب الوطن يحن إليها حنين العاشق إلى معشوقه، يلقاها بوجهٍ باسم ونفس متعطشة إلى شذى رياحينها؛ فيشجيه عبق الزهر، وساجع الطير، وانسياب الماء في الغدير يقف أمامها وقفة المسحور يعاطيها إحساسه وتعاطيه صورها، ولا يصورها إلا بعد أن يغمس ريشته في مداد روحه وهوى فؤاده وذكرى محبوبه، متخذاً من وجودها المكاني تماثلات مرتبطة بالإحساس والمشاعر وكأن الطبيعة صورة من صور نفسه، كائن حي له قلبٌ يدق، وعرق ينبض، وأنفاس تتدفق.
في القصيدة المعنونة "يا شرفةَ الشِّيْح!" يقول الشاعر:
"يا شرفة الشيح ما صامت أسامينا / عن ثغرك الخصب بالذكرى فنادينا / مَا زال فيكِ ندى تلويح فاتنةٍ ونحنُ ما زال طَلُّ الكف يروينا / نطيعُ نفحة عطرٍ في رزانتنا/ ونسمع الكحلَ في أعتى نواهينا / جرى بنا العمر لكن لو يلوح لنا/ كفٌ من الشيح لاسودت نواصينا".
يضم الكتاب قصائداً في الشعر العربي الموزون والمقفى والشعر العربي الحديث جاءت تحت العناوين الآتية: "فاتحة"، "أمسي القادم"، "وجهي الوحيد!"، "اشتهاء!"، "آخر ما يذكر الليل"، "ودعت شيطاني"، "لا"، "بي جازان!"، "السقوط للأعلى"، "ويلٌ للمطففات!"، "يا شرفة الشيح"، (...) وقصائد أخرى.
