إن هذا الكتاب يمكن أن يحفز طلاب الإعلام منذ عامهم الأول في الدراسة ويفتح لهم آفاق المستقبل، ويزيد طموحهم لبناء القوة الاتصالية لأمتهم، ويعرفهم بأهمية دراسة الاتصال وتطوره، وأهمية الوظيفة الحضارية والمجتمعية التي سيقدمون بها. إنني أعمل بذلك لتمويل طلاب الإعلام إلى فرسان البحث عن الحقيقة، وتوعية الأمة، وإنتاج المعرفة ونقلها، والوفاء بحق جمهورهم في المعرفة. لقد كنت أريد أن يشكل ذلك الكتاب البداية لإنطلاق جيل جديد من الإعلاميين الذين يتميزون بالجرأة والشجاعة والعلم، ويعرفون أهمية رسالتهم ووظيفتهم. هناك أيضاً جانب آخر لاختيار العنوان هو أنني كنت أتطلع إلى أن يشكل هذا الكتاب دوراً مشابهاً في علم الاتصال والإعلام للدور الذي شكلته مقدمة ابن خلدون في علم الاجتماع وتطور العمران البشري .. وأعتقد أن الاتصال كان من من أهم عوامل تطور ذلك العمران وبناء الحضارات ونقل المعرفة. وربما أردت أن أكمل جهد ابن خلدون، بتوضيح دور الاتصال وأهميته في إعادة الحضارة الإسلامية وبناء مجتمع المعرفة. من المدينة المنورة أقدم لأمتي التي أعتز وأفخر بالانتماء لها وأؤمن وأعتقد يقيناً أنها خير أمة أخرجت للناس .. وأنها بالرغم من حالة الضعف والهوان التي تعيشها ستعود لتملأ الأرض عدلاً ومعرفة، وأن الإسلام سيشع من قلوب مؤمنة، ومن عقول متوهجة بنوره على العالم. من مدينة رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، ومن شارع سيد الشهداء الذي أعيش بجانبه أقدم للطلاب الذين يريدون دراسة الإعلام هذا الكتاب لأقول لهم: لقد رشحوك لأمر لو فطنت له .. فأربأ بنفسك أن ترعى مع الهمل. أردت أن أقول لكل طلابي إنكم تدرسون الإعلام لكي تقوموا بوظيفة حضارية ومجتمعية تبدأ بمعرفة كيف تطور الاتصال الإنساني؟ .. وهذا الكتاب يقدم إجابة مختصرة وسريعة. ومن المدينة المنورة أطلق دعوة لكل زملائي الباحثين في مجال الاتصال والإعلام لكي نبدأ مرحلة جديدة من الكفاح لتطوير هذا العلم، وللمساهمة معي في بناء مدرسة علمية عربي إسلامية تقوم بوضع الأسس العلمية لمجتمع المعرفة، وبناء القوة الاتصالية.
