دُرِسَ الأدَبُ العربيُّ، لا سيَّما الشِّعرُ، دراساتٍ جَمَّة وَفيرة، ومِن زوايا نَظَرٍ متعدِّدَة، وبمناهجَ مُتباينَة، حتّى ليكادُ الواحدُ منا يقول: إن هذا الأدب قد قُتل بحثاً، ولم يتبق منه للدراسة إلا النَّزْرُ اليسيرُ، وإلاّ إذا شاء بعضُ الباحثينَ أنْ يخوضُوا غِمارَه بِمناهجَ أخرى ينكشفُ عنها وَجْهُ الزّمان في قابل الأيّام.
ولعل التركيز في دراسة هذا الأدب، ولعلِّي أكرِّرُ نفسي هُنا بتأكيدِ كَوْنِ الشِّعر عُرضةً للدِّراسةِ أكثرَ من سائر فُنون الأدب، انصبَّ على الشِّعر الجاهليِّ خاصَّةً، ثم استقرَّ إلى جانبه على الأدب العبّاسيِّ، ووظف الباحثون في سبيل تحقيق ذلك مناهج تراوَحت بين التاريخيِّ، والأسطوريِّ، والتكامُلِيّ، والبنيويّ، فضلاً عن أن بعضهم توجَّه نحو ربط النتاج الإبداعيِّ بالبيئات الجغرافيَّة حيناً، وبالعُصور السياسية أحياناً أخرى، وأقام بعض الباحثين دراستهُ على جُزئيَّات متناثرة هنا وهناك، وتقدِّم آخرون لدراسة ظواهر أدبية (شعريَّة) خصصوا لها كُتباً أو بحوثاً؛ هذا بعدَ أن استقرَّ للبحث تنظيرٌ شموليٌّ كليُّ ظاهريٌّ بمجموعةٍ من الدّراساتِ الوصفيَّة التي أسَّسَت للإنسِراب نَحو الظَّواهر بمجموعةٍ من الدّراسات الوصفيَّة التي أسَّسَت للإنسِرابِ نَحو الظَّواهرِ والجزئيّات والقضايا، وأثر الحيواتِ الفكريَّة والسياسيّة والإجتماعيّة والإقتصاديّة والدينيَّة والطائفيَّة وسواها في هذا الأدب، ونحصُّ بالذكر هنا الكُتُبَ التي حملت عناوين من مثل (تاريخ الأدب العربيّ).
