الماء هو عصب الحياة على هذه الأرض، وأعظم وصف للماء ودلالة على أهميته ذلك الوصف الرباني له بأنه عماد الحياة وشريانها. إن هذا السائل تركيبه البسيط المكوّن من غازين مخلوطين بنسبة (102)، له خصائص ومميزات جعلته يتمتع بهذا الاهتمام، وهذا البحث المتواصل في أعماق الأرض وأعالي السحب، بحثاً عن شريان الحياة، فالماء متطلب أساسي وضروري لجميع الكائنات الحية صغيرها وكبيرها ولا يستطيع أي كائن مخلوق مهما كان أن يستغني عن الماء، ولهذا كان من الضروري أن يتوفر الماء في كل وقت وفي كل مكان من أجل استمرار الحياة وحتى يستطيع الإنسان بخاصة أن يستمر في العيش.
وقد ازدادت أهمية الماء كعنصر للحياة بتزايد الحاجة إليه في مجالات الحياة كافة وذلك بسبب التزايد الكبير والسريع في إعداد البشر، كل ذلك دعا إلى وجوب استخدام العلم والأساليب التكنولوجية الحديثة في توفير الماء لكل إنسان وللمناطق التي هي بحاجة إليه أكثر من غيرها، بسبب قلة مصادرة الطبيعة في تلك المنطقة. وكذلك العمل على توفير هذا الماء للناس. ومن تلك الأساليب المستحدثة في توفير الماء ومحاربة الجفاف زراعة الأمطار وحقن الغيوم وصناعتها بطرق علمية دقيقة.
وضمن هذا الإطار يدور البحث حول الاستمطار في هذا الكتاب، حيث يوضح الباحث ماهية هذه الطريقة، زراعة الأمطار. متناولاً في الفصل الأول منه وفي المقدمة موضوع زراعة الأمطار أو ما يسمى نور السحاب ثم بشكل مختصر، آلية تشكل السحب والتهطال وكذلك أنواع هذه السحب وسحب الاستمطار. وفي الفصل الثاني يتناول الباحث مفهوم الاستمطار وتطوره عبر التاريخ العلمي باحثاً من ثم محرضات السحب على التهطال، ومتفرضاً بعدها لموضوع السحب الاصطناعية مكرساً الفصل الثالث والأخير لموضوع طرق بذر السحب بالممرضات، ليبين في الخاتمة نتائج بعض التجارب في العالم والتي من ضمنها التجربة السورية.
