من أبرز الحالات العبادية التي يتجلى فيها الإنسان أكثر قرباً إلى الله سبحانه وتعالى، هي حالة السجود، ولذلك اختصها الباري عزّ وجلّ لنفسه، أما لماذا هي كذلك، فلأنها من أبرز سمات التذلل والخضوع للخالق الواحد عزّ وجلّ.
والسجود بحسب السنّة أفضله وأحسنه ما كان على الأرض التي لا يصح سجود الصلاة إلا عليها أو على ما لا يؤكل أو لا يلبس، وذلك لتضمنه مزيد التذلل والتخضع.
وقد أوضح هذا الكتاب الأحكام الشرعية لكل سجدة من تلك السجدات، ليشير بعد ذلك إلى سجدات أخرى مثل سجدة الفصل بين الأذان والإقامة، وسجدة متابعة المأموم حين لم يتمكن من الإلتحاق به في الركوع، والسجود لمن دخل المسجد الحرام وقضاء السجود الفائت.
