يشكل هذا الكتاب منجز أدبي في حقل المسرح وبالتحديد (الحركة على المسرح) بين الدلالات النظرية والرؤيا التطبيقية، يدرس من خلالها أ.د. عبد الكريم عبود "الحركة" التي هي صورة الفعل على المسرح، ودلالات العرض المسرحي وكيفية صناعته بالحركات على إعتبار أن "الحركة هي أساس في تطوير الحياة وبالتالي تطوير لغة العرض كونها وسيلة إتصال بصرية إنسانية وتؤسس قيم التفاهم وتشكل أساساً تواصلياً، فهي علامة قائمة على فعل يسرد قصة أو حدث وتحمل صفة دلالية كونها تمثل الشيء وترمز إليه ولواقعه.
وبهذا تحقق الحركة كعنصر إتصال هدف العرض بوجود الجمهور الذي يعد الجانب الأساس في إستلام الرسالة، ويتم عن طريقها المشاركة الوجدانية والعاطفية الجماعية بين العرض والمتخرج...
ولإن العرض المسرحي هو سلسلة مترابطة لا تنقطع من الأسباب والأفعال فقد سعى مؤلف الكتاب إلى دراسته من الناحية النظرية والتطبيقية عبر ستة فصول يكمل بعضها البعض ويبدأ في الفصل الأول بدراسة: المنطلقات الدلالية للحركة وتطورها كلفة أولى للإنسان، وفي الفصل الثاني يدرس: فيزيائية الجسد وماهية الحركة، بينما خصص الفصل الثالث لدراسة: التشكيل الحركي بوصفه وحدة فنية، ثم الفصل الرابع ويسلط الضوء على "سيمولوجيا الحركة" وذلك في مبحثين: الأول: سيمولوجيا الحركة على المسرح، والثاني: أنواع وأشكال الحركات على المسرح ووظائفها الدلالية، ثم الفصل الخامس: الحركة على المسرح دلالات الحركة الجمالية (نماذج مختارة) من: المسرح الأغريقي والمسرح الشرقي، ويأتي الفصل السادس والأخير حول: دلالة الحركة الفكرية والجمالية بين النظرية والتطبيق في المسرح الحديث.
