العلاقة الملتبسة بين الوطن بما هو فكرة غير محققة في الواقع، والمواطن بما هو مشروع يتلمس سبل الإنتقال من الوجود بالقوة إلى الوجود بالفعل هو الموضوع الذي تتمحور حوله رواية "أسماء خلق وجوه برتقالية" للروائي العراقي د. فهد حجازي.
في الرواية تصوير للواقع العراقي في ظل النظام الأسبق والإحتلال الأميركي، عبر مجموعة من المشاهد الروائية المتعاقبة والمتجاورة، ومن خلال استعادة رحلة العبور من وإلى العراق عبر الحدود العراقية – السورية، وما لقيه الناس (أبطال الرواية) من مخاطر ومصاعب، مروراً بالأحوال المعيشية للناس والمشكلات الدينية – السياسية – والطائفية التي فرّقت ابناء البلد الواحد. "وهكذا يرصد الروائي حركة الناس أثناء الحرب والعلاقات فيما بينهم والعلاقة مع الوطن. وهكذا لم يبقَ أمام المطرجي ما يفعله ... فقد استأذن بالمغادرة ... وانتقل من دهوك إلى تلعفر فالموصل ثم إلى سورية عبر باب سنجار، ووصل إلى دمشق، حيث ذهب إلى منطقة السيدة زينب التي تغص بالعراقيين الذين لجأوا إلى سورية، هرباً من الحرب ومن ملاحقة المخابرات. ولم يكن أمر السؤال عن عائلة صغيرة صعباً في مجتمع تشكل منذ فترة، إلا أن المحاولة ذهبت سدى ...". هذا المشهد واحد من مئات المشاهد بل المصائر التي تواجه أبطال الرواية تم التعبير عنها بخطاب روائي يتسم بوحدة السارد، وتعدد لغات الحوار منها المحكية العراقية أو السورية، كذلك استخدم الروائي في خطابه تقنية اليوميات سرداً أو حواراً لا سيما في الجزء المتذكر من الرواية. ولذلك بقي عند الإطار الخارجي للشخصيات ولم يتغلغل إلى داخلها، وخاصة حين يروي بلسان شخصياته من العامة، وهذه المواصفات جعلت لغة الروائي خلاصة به، لتضيء قضية عراقية مستمرة، ما يثبت قدرة الأدب الروائي على مواكبة القضايا الساخنة.
