لا يستغني أي باحث في الروايات، فقيهاً كان أو غير فقيه، عن التعرف على علم الدراية، وحسم بعض الأمور المتعلقة بمجال البحث في الرواية. والشيخ البهائي كان من المهتمين بهذا العلم حتى أنه قد قدم لكتابه "الحبل المتين" في الفقه، بمقدمة في علم الدراية سماها بالوجيزة، فرغ من تأليفها في العام 1010 للهجرة، طبعت لاحقاً بشكل مستقل.
ومن يطالعها يلحظ ما فيها من دقائق الأمور لذلك فقد عني الشيخ "مالك مصطفى وهبي العاملي" بشرحها على طريقة المزج مشيراً للمتن بخط أسود بين قوسين.
وقبل الشروع في شرح الوجيزة وجد أنه لمن المناسب أن يذكر في البداية مختصراً من حياة الشيخ البهائي، ثم يذكر الوجيزة كاملة حتى يبقى المتن واضحاً بشكل منفصل، يعقبها بالشرح.
