قصة "أرملة وحيد القرن"، حيثُ يتَّضحُ أكثر الخطّ الإبداعي المُكثّف للكاتب في مجال الكتابة القصصية، بعد خمسِ مجموعاتٍ قصصية وروايتيْن، ليجدَ القارئُ نفسَهُ أمامَ تجربةٍ تتَّكِئ على الاشتغال والتجريب الواعييْن، انطلاقاً من حساسية عالية تجاهَ "القصة" كصنفٍ أدبي، تقِلُّ فيه الأقلام الجادة. وتعملُ قلَّة من الكتّاب على الحفرِ عميقاً في آلياتِ تطويرهِ أسلوباً ولغةً.
وما تنبني عليه المجموعة القصصية الجديدة لإسلام أبو شكير، لا يخرجُ عن هذا الاشتغال، بأسلوبٍ سرديٍّ مُحكم، دون شوائب، مع اعتمادٍ واضحٍ على التنويع في تقنيات السَّرد، بدءاً ببناء الأحداث وصولاً إلى نهاية القصة، لكن ذلك، لا يعتمدُ طريقةً جافَّة ومُسطَّرة في البناء، بقدر ما يصلُ إلى القارئ بأسلوبٍ يتماهى والأفكار التي يريدُ الكاتب إيصالها، بطرقٍ متعدِّدة وبمعانٍ إيحائيةٍ مختلفة.
هناكَ انحيازٌ كبيرٌ للغرائبية والتجريد في قصص أبو شكير، مع امتزاجِ وقائع العالم الحقيقي، بسوداويةٍ ليست ادِّعاءً مجانياً في الكتابةِ، إنَّما هي صفة ملازمة للوجود الإنساني في الحياة اليومية، تلك الحياة التي لا تخلو من انهياراتٍ كبرى وجنون عظيم وخرابٍ طال كلَّ شيء. نحنُ هنا بصددِ كوكتيل من المشاعر، بين الآلام الراسخة والأحلام التي تصارعُ من أجلِ البقاء، يؤجِّلها الكاتبُ أحياناً ويُعدمها أحياناً أخرى، لكنَّه، بطريقةٍ ما، يكتبُ مصيرنا العبَثي المشترك، حتَّى وإن تباعدت الجغرافيات وحاولنا التَّحايُل على لعبةِ الزمن الزئبقي المنفلت من بين أيدينا، كزوجِ الأرملة الذي عاد بعد موتهِ، وحيدَ قرنٍ حزين، ليموت مرَّة ثانية.
