هذا الكتاب شرحٌ مبسط لروايتي هشام بن عمار وعبد الله ابن ذكوان من قراءة ابن عامر الشامي من طريق الشاطبية، يحتوي على أصول قراءة ابن عامر، وفرش الكلمات التي اختلفت في قراءتها حفص وابن عامر براوييه هشام وهو المقدم في الأداء وابن ذكوان، والإختلاف في القراءة بينهما يسير.
ولذلك عزا مؤلف الكتاب الإختلاف غالباً لابن عامر إلا فيما اختلف فيه في القراءة مع ابن ذكوان، فإذا ذكر أحد الراويين فقط دل على أن الراوي الثاني يوافق حفصاً والمثال الأول سورة آل عمران آية [169] في قوله تعالى: {قُتِلُوا} بتشَديد التاء تدل أنها لابن عامر براوييه، بينما الآية [168] في قوله تعالى: {ما قُتِلُوا} بتشديد التاء، فتدل أن ابن ذكوان كحفص (قراءة حفص).
والمثال الثاني في قراءة هشام بن عمار في قوله تعالى: {وَلَقَدْ جَاءَكُمْ} هنا إدغام الدال في الجيم، فدل أبن ابن ذكوان يقرأها بالإظهار كحفص، "ولقد جاءَكُم" ابن ذكوان: إمالة فتحة الجيم والألف، فدل أن هشاماً يقرأها بالفتح كحفص.
وهكذا يستمر المؤلف بالشرح، فإذا كان في الكلمة وجهان أحدهما مثل حفص يكتب الكلمة بالوجه الذي يخالف حفصاً ولو لم يكن المقدم، ثم يذكر الدليل من الشاطبية أحياناً مع توجيه القارئ في الحاشية لبعض المراجع التي يمكن الرجوع إليها لمزيد من التوضيح.
