يظهر في كلِّ عصرٍ شُعراء كُثُر تذهب أسماء معظمهم بذهابهم، ويبقى خالداً منهم عدد قليل، فلا يخلو خلود هؤلاء من سببٍ لم يتوافر لأولئك.
فما هو المراد بالقصَّة الشِّعريَّة؟... يرى دارسو الأدب العربي أن باب القصص الشِّعريَّة "يشمل القصَّة العاديَّة، والمسرحيَّة، والملحمة، والرحلات الخياليَّة وبما أن شُعراءنا - خلال نصف قرن من الزمن، امتدَّت بين عامَيْ 1875 و 1925م قد نظموا في النَّوع القصصي، لذلك فإن دراستنا ستتناول القصَّة العادية بنوعَيْها: الأُقصوصة والقصَّة.
ولذلك كان لزاماً علينا أن نلجأ إلى تحديد شيئَين: أولهما: تحديد الحقبة الزمنية التي هي موضوع الدراسة، ثانيهما: تحديد الشُّعراء اللُّبنانيين الذين تطرَّقوا إلى نظم القصَّة الشِّعريَّة، وذلك عن طريق العودة إلى دواوينهم الشِّعريَّة.
وسيبدو لنا من خلال هذه الدراسة أن فجر القصَّة الشِّعرية قد ظهرتْ تباشيره في لبنان في أواخر القرن الماضي على يَدَي شاعرنا خليل الخور وبخاصةٍ في ديوانه الموسوم بــ "الشَّاديات" المطبوع عام 1875م، ثم تابعه بعد ذلك تلميذه الشَّيخ عبد الله البستاني عام 1893م.
ولا يفوتنا أن نذكر إنطلاق حركة الشِّعر المنثور وخواطره المعبِّرة عن روح الجيل والسُّرعة وتمازج الفنون، إلى ما هنالك من طرائق جديدة لقول الشِّعر، لم تكن بعد قد توضَّحت معالمها في الربع الأول من القرن العشرين، وقد بدأت هذه الطَّرائق والأساليب التجديديَّة تأتي أُكُلها من الأربعينات عند شُعراء الشَّباب.
