ممدوح عدوان كاتب وشاعر ومسرحي سوري.
ولد في قرية قيرون (مصياف) عام 1941.
تلقى تعليمه في مصياف، وتخرج في جامعة دمشق حاملاً الإجازة في اللغة الإنكليزية، عمل في الصحافة الأدبية، وبث له التلفزيون العربي السوري عدداً من المسلسلات والسهرات التلفزيونية.
عضو جمعية الشعر.
رحل عن الدنيا في عام 2004 بعد اصابته بالسرطان.

الأسماء تجمد التاريخ، خاصة في المشرق العربي. ومن دون فهم صحيح للأسماء، كثيراً ما يصعب إدراك جوانب كثيرة من تاريخنا وتاريخ بلادنا. يحوي هذا الكتيب مجموعة دراسات كتبها متخصصون عن أصل أسماء: سورية وفينيقيا وكنعان وأرجوان، والاسم (Saracens).
وإلى جانب ذلك، يحوي هذا الكتيب أيضاً دراستين تاليتين ترتبطان بالموضوع الأول، وتتعاملان مع الدور الذي لعبته قديماً بلاد الشام وأهلها في الإمبراطورية الرومانية التي استعمرت الإقليم وأقوامه قروناً طويلة.
