أحدثت ثورة شباط/فبراير 2011 في اليمن تغيرات عميقة في الثقافة السياسية، فازداد رفض الانتماء إلى الأحزاب السياسية القديمة، وارتفعت نسبة الاتجاهات الإيجابية نحو منح المرأة الحق في الخروج من المنزل للعمل.
وهذا الكتاب دراسة معمقة تسعى إلى إبراز أثر العوامل الاجتماعية في بلورة الوعي السياسي في المجتمع اليمني. ولاحظ الكاتب أن معظم مَن استطلعت هذه الدراسة آراءهم لا يمانعون في ترشيح المرأة نفسها للانتخابات التشريعية، لكن معظم التأييد جاء من الإناث.
والمفاجأة أن نسبة المؤيدين لفصل الدين عن الدولة تقارب نسبة المعارضين، بيد أن الدراسة برهنت أن أبرز الطموحات لدى مَن استطلعت آراءهم هو تحرير فلسطين ثم قيام دولة الخلافة الإسلامية.
ولاحظ المؤلف أيضًا أن ثمة ضعفًا في الميل نحو التداول السلمي للسلطة، وميلًا أقوى إلى الصلح كوسيلة لفض النزاعات يفوق الميل إلى القانون، الأمر الذي يشير إلى تأثير الثقافة القبلية.
وهذه الدراسة الميدانية هي، في بعض وجوهها، تحليل لعوامل الوعي السياسي وتحولاته وخصائصه لدى عينة مختارة من طلاب جامعة صنعاء وطالباتها بعد ثورة 2011.
