تعد ظاهرة جنوح الأحداث قديمة، ويختلف نمو هذه الظاهرة من مجتمع لآخر، باختلاف البنى الاجتماعية والنظم الاقتصادية لكل مجتمع، وتكمن أهمية هذه الظاهرة في أنها تمس النشء الجديد وقاعدة كل المجتمعات التي بها تقوم الحضارة. إن وجود مثل هذه الفئات في المجتمع وأهمية المرحلة التي يعيشونها تتطلب إبراز الجوانب والطرق الفاعلة في الرعاية النفسية للأحداث الجانحين بمؤسسات رعاية الأحداث، لتأهيل الأحداث الجانحين، وتعديل سلوكهم. وبهذا الصدد، تقدِّم الدراسة بيانات وإحصاءات مهمة حول تقييم فاعلية الرعاية النفسية للأحداث الجانحين في دولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة. وقد هدفت الدراسة إلى تقييم فاعلية الرعاية النفسية للأحداث الجانحين في مؤسسات رعاية الأحداث في دولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة، والتعرف على مفهوم جنوح الأحداث من الجانب الشرعي والنفسي والاجتماعي والقانوني، وبيان التفسير العلمي لسلوك الجنوح والإجرام، والتعرف على مفهوم الرعاية النفسية للأحداث الجانحين وأشكالها، وعلى مؤسسات رعاية الأحداث الجانحين في دولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة. وحاولت الدراسة توضيح الجوانب السلبية والإيجابية في تلك الرعاية، للعمل على تدارك السلبية وتطوير الإيجابية منها.
