وتمضي الأيام وتدور، وبعد سنين قام عبد الناصر بسجن الأستاذ وبعض جلسائه الذين يرتادون شقته، وبعد عامين أطلق سراحه، فهاجر إلى لندن، ومكث فيها سنين عددا، ثمّ عاد إلى جدة، وكنت أزوره في فللته في حيّ الأمير فواز بعد مغرب بعض الأيام، وكان يختلف إلى بيته الكثير من تلامذته وأصدقائه، ومرّت الأيام، وفي إحدى الزيارات وقبل أن يموت بعامين، إعطاني عدة دفاتر، وقال لي "احتفظ بها فإنني أخشى أن تضيع بعد وفاتي" وعندما عدت إلى منزلي وجدت أنها تحتوي على القصاصات التي كان يقصّها من الصحف والمجلات مع مختارات من الشعر والتعليقات على الأحداث وكذلك بعض مذكراته، ولم يوصني بنشرها، ولكنني أنشر القصاصات الآن لأنها انطباعات إنسان عاش التاريخ الذي كتبت فيه وتفاعلت معه، واعتقد أنّ نشرها يلقي ضوءا على أحداث هذا التاريخ ، كما يلقي ضوءاً على شخصيته ككاتب ومناضل.
