في تاريخ العراق المعاصر الكثير من المنعطفات التاريخية البارزة، انتفاضات وثورات وانقلابات عسكرية قادها الشعب أو انفرد بها حزب أو مجموعة من الضباط بعضها أشعلت الروح الوطنية، وكانت في مجموعها إرهاصات أدت إلى اندلاع ثورة العشرين وحركة مايس/أيار 1941، ووثبة 1948، وانتفاضة 1952، وثورة 14 تموز/يوليو 1958 التي انحرفت عن مسارها وخلفت بعدها سلسلة من الانقلابات أو المحاولات الانقلابية العسكرية، التي مزقت البلاد ووحداتها الوطنية وشتتت العباد وخسر العراق خلالها أبرز شخصياته الوطنية والإسلامية والقومية التقدمية. ولكن ما زال هذا التاريخ غامضاً لدى الكثيرين ومجهولاً للغالبية العظمى، خاصة من الشباب الذين لا يعرفون شيئاً عن تاريخ العراق الحديث والمعاصر، الذي يعد الركيزة للانطلاق في الحاضر ونحو المستقبل.
وفي هذا الكتاب الذي نقدمه للقراء عن المرحوم عبد الرحمن البزاز، أول رئيس وزراء مدني في العهد الجمهوري في العراق، حيث يكشف هذا الكتاب أسرار فترة حكم البزاز، ويكشف الوجه الحقيقي الذي أهمله التاريخ ويلقي الضوء على أفكاره وآرائه، ويزيل الظلم الحيف الذي لحق بهذه الشخصية العراقية، التي صنعت بعضاً من تاريخ العراق خلال أشهر قليلة من توليه رئاسة الحكومة العراقية. كما يدحض الكتاب التهم والشبهات التي وجهت نحوه، وهو ذو العقلية المتحضرة التي طواها النسيان وأهملها الزمن، ونالتها حملات التشهير والتشويه والتزييف، فالبعض اتهمه بالعمالة الإنكليز، وآخرون اتهموه بالعمالة لشركات النفط من خلال بيانات ومنشورات حزبية ضيقة الأفق، استهدفت تصفية حسابات شخصية مع البزاز حينما تسلم رئاسة الحكومة.
