إن الكتاب"ملاحم على الورق" ليس للشاعر أفق وليس له جو واحد يحلق فيه. وهذه القصائد سميت ملاحم استقبت موضوعاتها من حالات فرضت نفسها على الشعر، بعضها من التجارب المرة وبعضها من ذكريات التشرد والاضطراب وبعضها الآخر من حوار كبار الشعراء مع حاضرهم الذي أصبح ماضياً. لم يتدخل الكاتب في مادة الشعر إلا ما كان من جهد هنا وهناك لإقالة الشعر من العثار والكبوة وهو الذي اختار شكل القصيدة. ربما وجد القارئ شيئاً من الاضطراب البالغ حد التناقض أحياناً بين ميادين هذه الملاحم وساحاتها. يشفع لنا خلق واحد لا نعدوه هو أننا صادقون. هذه الملاحم الشعرية كتبها الشعراء: أبو النواس, أبو الطيب المتنبي, أبو العلاء المعري.
