لا شك أننا بدأنا نلْمس بوادر إتّجاه جديد في علاج مشكلاتنا، اتجاه أكثر موضوعية... يلتفت إلى الجانب الذاتي (أي العوامل الداخلية التي نخرت في مجتمعنا هذا) أكثر مما يلقي التّبعة على أي عامل خارجي...
لقد حال في ذهني طويلاً سؤال لازمني دوماً، وهو وإن تغيرت صورته وصيغته أحياناً، إلا أنّ جوهره يبقى ثابتاً، وهو: بما أن المقدمات الصحيحة لا تعطي إلا نتائج سليمة، وحيث أن مقدماتنا (كمسلمين من ناحية صحة العقيدة) سليمةٌ... فما السرّ في كوننا على هامش التاريخ متخلفين متردين؟...
لقد رسّخ هذا السؤال في ذهني التمييز بين النظرة العقيدية إلى المبدأ (أي فيما يتعلق بصحته أو عدم صحته) وبين النظرة الإجتماعية (وهي ما يتعلق بامتثال المبدأ وإستخدامه في الحياة وتطبيقه لتبرز آثاره ونتائجه الإجتماعية في الحياة الدنيا).
وقد كانت معظم أبحاث المسلمين تتركز حول الجانب الأول، وقلّما تتطرق إلى الجانب الآخر، وإن حدث فتطرق عرضي... بمساسٍ سطحي لا يجعل قضيةَ إستخدام العقيدة إجتماعياً، والدعوة إليها عن طريق إبراز آثارها ونتائجها في الحياة والمجتمع، لا يجعل ذلك محوراً أساسياً للبحث...
لذا رأيت أنْ أشْرَعَ في عرض ما أتمكن منه من هذه المواضيع، مبتدئاً ببعض الثغرات النفسية التي أراها تحدد مسلكنا الآن... تحديداً سلبياً، وتحول دون إستخدامنا لوسائلنا البسيطة والمتاحة، فتحدّ بالتالي من فعاليتنا وتعوقها... وتعمل على إستمرار ما نحن فيه من تأخر... وجمود، وكسل مسوّغٍ مُبَرّر.
وقد حاولت ان أمنع اتّسام البحث بالجمود والجفاف بأن جعلت جوهره محاطاً بإطار يوضّحه، ذلك أنني تناولت (الحيل النفسية) على أنها مداخل للشيطان ينفذ من خلالها إلى النفس الإنسانية عامة وإلى النفس المسلمة خاصة فيشلّها ويمنع فعّاليّتَها.
