تحت عنوان "علم اللغة الرياضي والنظرية العربية اللسانية الحديثة" يسعى الأستاذ محمد يحي كعدان لصياغة نظرية لسانية حديثة للغة العربية؛ أكثر تطويعاً، وأكثر قدرة تفسيرية من النظرية التقليدية السائدة، ومرتبطة بالمفاهيم الأولية للمنطق البشري، مما يثبت أن اللغة فطرية يقوم الإنسان باكتشافها وليس باختراعها.
وفي هذا الإطار يفرد المؤلف كافة النظريات اللغوية لعلماء اللغة القدماء والمعاصرين من المشتغلين في حقل الرياضيات، ويثير نقاشاً حول الحاجة إلى الرياضيات لتفسير اللغة، فلإذا كانت اللغة – بتعبير المؤلف – شأنها شأن وسائل التعبير الأخرى، اكتشاف فقط، مثلها في ذلك مثل الرياضيات، فكلنا يعلم أن الرياضيات (لغة العلم) تُكتشف اكتشافاً ولا يتم اختراعها، فهي فطرية مع منطق الإنسان. واللغة (كما في الرياضيات) موجودة في الطليعة ولو لم يوجد الإنسان حتى، فهي موجودة نتيجة وجود (الفعل)، فالطبيعة تًعبّر (تتكلم) .. وأداة تعبيرها (لغتها) هي الفعل، وتكون اللغة الأكثر تطوراً هي لغة القوم الأكثر اكتشافاً.
وعليه يجمع هذا الكتاب بين الجانب النظري والجانب التطبيقي (استخدامات علم اللغة الرياضي) والمفاهيم الأولية لهذا العلم وقوانينه ورموزه وأبجديته ومنها كما جاء في تقسيم الدراسة: حروف المعاني (الحرف أ – ب – ت (...) ي) وحروف المعاني الثنائية (الصيغة "أل"، الصيغة "لا" الصيغة "يا" (...) الصيغ "هو، هي ، هم" ، وحروف المعاني الثلاثية (الصياغة بالأداة "أجل"، الصيغة بالأداة "إذن" (الصيغة بالأداة الثلاثية "عمل، علم"، والصيغة بالكلمات الثلاثية والحركات، وحروف المعاني الرباعية، وحروف المعاني الخماسية، والصياغة بالأداة "لكن" وأخيراً الصياغة بالأداتين "أنتما وأنتن".
