تشكل العلاقات الإجتماعية الموضوعة المحورية في (نفلة) المجموعة القصصية الجديدة للكاتب محمد البشير، فيمنح من فضائها وأحداثها وشخصياتها (قصصاً قصيرة وقصيرة جداً) يرسم من خلالها حياة موازية تزول فيها الحدود بين الواقع والفن. فالقصص الواردة في المجموعة يجري توظيفها في سياق مجتمعي خاص، ويرتبط بها نمو الأحداث، ولكل قصة وظيفة محددة ورسالة ما يوجهها عبر خطابه، فرأي الكاتب وموقفه الإجتماعي والفكري، منبث في الأصوات الروائية المتعددة التي تتحاور وتتقاطع في النسيج السردي، وما على القارىء إلا أن يدرك فحوى هذا الصوت، ومضمون الرسالة.
في ضوء ما تقدم، يبدو الكاتب محمد بشير منشغلاً في جلب نماذجه من الشخصيات من البيئة المحلية، على اعتبار أنها جزء من كل تتوحد فيه، فيستدعي من خلالها التباين الحاد في بنية المجتمع كما يراها، ويوظفها من أجل مساءلة القيم الإجتماعية واختبار مقولاتها عن المساواة كما في قصة (نفلة) ، وعدم الإزدواجية والصدق في السلوك وهو الذي تنطق به قصة (رقصة الضياء)، أما قصة (أكفانها أطراس) فينتقل من خلالها بنا إلى بيئة إجتماعية عربية (العراق) الحديث المدمى بالنزاعات والذي ما برح تتفاعل فيه قوى صاخبة تحجب صراخات مثل "أطوار بهجت" شهيدة الإعلام في أحداث 2006، وقد رثاها الكاتب بصوتها "أخيراً ووريت في الثرى .. وداعاً يا وطني .. أتمنى بعذريتي أني وفيتُ بعهدي .. فلم يلامس شفاف قلبي سوى علم العراق وخريطة العراق. يقيت أسرار لم أبح بها لأحد وآن تسطيرها ...".
انتظمت قصص المجموعة تحت عناوين ثلاث رئيسية هي : 1- السبع القصار ، 2- فاصلة ، 3- قصار القصار.
