إن للتوافق النفسي أثر كبير في حياة الفرد والمجتمع بشكل عام وهذا التوافق النفسي له صلة كبيرة في التنشئة الإجتماعية والعوامل المؤثرة فيها وكذلك الإضطرابات الإنفعالية والسلوكية التي تؤثر سلباً على مسار التوافق النفسي والصحة النفسية.
ومن هنا جاءت فكرة تأليف هذا الكتاب الذي يُعبر عن مكنونات التوافق النفسي والإضطرابات السلوكية والإنفعالية فتضمن الكتاب عشرة فصول حيث عبر الفصل الأول عن التوافق والصحة النفسية ومؤشراتها وكذلك الفصل الثاني الصراع النفسي والإضطرابات النفسية والإنفعالية.
أما الفصل الثالث فأشار إلى الميكانيزمات الدفاعية والإضطرابات الإنفعالية والسلوكية، أما الفصل الرابع الدافعية ونظرياتها، وجاء الفصل الخامس ليوضح عن الشخصية ومقوماتها، أما الفصل السادس فجاء ليعبر عن الإضطرابات الإنفعالية والسلوكية والأمراض النفسية والعقلية وطرق علاجها، أما الفصل السابع فأشار إلى مفهوم التنشئة الإجتماعية وأثرها في الإضطرابات الإنفعالية والسلوكية، أما الفصل الثامن فوضح العوامل المساعدة على ضرورة التنشئة الإجتماعية.
وقد جاء الفصل التاسع ليوضح الوقاية من الأعصية مع بعض المشكلات والحالات، وأخيراً الفصل العاشر ليعبر عن المتغيرات الحياتية وتأثيرها على الصحة النفسية للطفل.
