كتب هذا الكتاب بالإنكليزية تحت عنوان "The Earth gods" وصدر في نيويورك سنة 1931م، قبيل وفاة جبران وهو عبارة عن محاورة بين ثلاثة أرواح أو آلهة، يطرح كل منهم آرائه في الحياة والموت والبشر والناس والألوهية.
فالأول: سئم الوجود ويئس من إصلاح الناس والمجتمع، فقرر الانعزال عن البشر. والثاني: على الرغم من وعيه للضعف البشري، فلم يفقد الأمل بالإصلاح والتغيير. والثالث (وهو الأقرب إلى جبران) فهو يعتبر أن الجمال والحب هما سر الحياة، ومفتاح لكل أسرار الوجود.
في هذا الكتاب يعود جبران إلى معظم آرائه وأفكاره التي طرحها في كتبه السابقة "المواكب" و"العواصف" و"المجنون" و"دمعة وابتسامة" و"البدائع والطرائف".
