لقد أدرك السلف الصالح من العرب والمسلمين، الأهداف الحقيقية التي كان يرمي إليها القرآن وهو يدعوهم إلى إقامة مجتمع العدل والمساواة في الأرض. فكانوا خير أمة لبّت النداء، وكان عهد الإسلام هو عهد الإشراق والتحرر والانبعاث الحضاري. وقد تمكن الإسلام من أن يطلق العنان لفكر الإنسان لأن يعمل في جو من حرية الدين والاعتقاد والعلم والمعرفة لإقامة مدينة الله على الأرض، المدينة التي هي نموذج دنيوي لمدينة الخلد الكبرى، وهي مدينة عمل وزراعة وجهد وعطاء وحصاد وثمار ونتائج.
والمؤلف يوضح في ثنائيا كتابه أن الإنسان في مدينة الله يؤهل تأهيلاً نادراً ويخضع لتجارب شتى في الصبر والمصابرة، كما أنه يعيش من أجل القضية الكبرى قضية الحق، وذلك يعني الانتصار للضعفاء أو المستضعفين واليتامى والمساكين والمشردين. لقد تأسست هذه المدينة وفق معطيات إنسانية وأخلاقية تحمل في ثناياها الدستور الأبدي. ولكي تبقى هذه المدينة نموذجاً حضارياً يمكن أن تطبق مبادئها في كل عصر.
تراث البشرية حافل بالأحداث والحضارات وإنشاء القرى والمدن والأهرامات، فتلك حضارات سادت ثم بادت، فهي إما بئر معطلة أو قصر مشيد. وتبقى مدينة الله-مدينة القرآن-المدينة النموذج. وهذا الكتاب تذكير للإنسان بحيثيات المدينة النموذج أملاً بانطلاقة جديدة نحو نموذج عصري لمدينة القرآن.
