هذه هي الطبعة الثالثة من كتاب (اليمن الإنسان والحضارة) للمؤرخ الكبير القاضي العلامة عبد الله عبد الوهاب المجاهد الشماحي. وقد كان الكتاب منذ ظهر محل اهتمام المؤرخين والباحثين، ولم يظهر بعده كتاب أو مقال جاء يطرح جانباً من تاريخ اليمن، إلا كان هذا الكتاب من أهم مراجعه، لا سيما في التاريخ الحديث حيث لم يكن القاضي عبد الله الشماحي فيه أحد المؤرخين للأحداث وإنما أحد المشاركين في صنعها وأحد المصطلين بنارها، فقد كان منذ نصف قرن أو يزيد في منطقة القلب من الأحداث التي شهدتها البلاد ابتداء من انطلاق أول همسة ضد الإمام يحيى وإلى زوال حكم آل حميد الدين وانقراضه.
وبالعودة لمتن هذا الكتاب نجده يعرض لمواضيع عن اليمن الطبيعية قل أن طرقها المؤرخون لتكون هذه المواضيع فاتحة للدراسة والنقد، وأضيف إلى هذه المواضيع ومضات خاطفة عن تاريخ اليمن الحضاري والحكومات والدول اليمنية بقصد التسلسل التاريخي الذي يسهل معه تفهم مواقف النضال اليمني ومحطاته الرئيسية عبر التاريخ.
