هذا الكتاب موجه لطلبة السنة الثالثة علوم إقتصادية وتجارية وعلوم التسيير بنظاميها الكلاسيكي والـــ LMD وطلبة السنة الأولى ماستر كما يخص أيضاً طلبة الدكتوراه والباحثين في الميدان، يتميز هذا الكتاب بسهولة معالجة الموضوعات وإستخدام الأساليب الرياضية الأولية، ثم هناك بعض البراهين في كل فصل لإثبات النظريات والعلاقات الرياضية المعقدة التي وردت به (يمكن للطالب العادي إهمالها).
تحتوي الطبعة الأولى من هذا الكتاب على تسعة فصول، تطرق في المؤلف في الفصلين الأول والثاني إلى طرق تحليل الإنحدار الخطي البسيط والمتعدد والفصل الثالث يتناول مشاكل القياس الإقتصادي التي تتعلق بإختلال في فرضيات النموذج، يحتوي الفصل الرابع على طرق أخرى في تحليل الإنحدار مثل الإنحدار غير الخطي وطريقة النواة، أما الفصل الخامس فتعطي فيه نبذة عن نماذج المعادلات الآنية وطرق تقديرها.
تأتي بعد ذلك الفصول المتبقية لتعالج بتعمق السلاسل الزمنية العشوائية وهو المجال الذي زاد استخدامه كثيراً في الآونة الأخيرة (دراسة الخصائص الإحصائية للسلسلة، نماذج ARMA، نماذج VAR ومشكل التكامل المشترك، نماذج ARCH، الشواش والذاكرة الطويلة والسيرورات غير المعلمية).
