وُلِدَ الإعلاميّ الكبير حسين مرتضى في مدينة الهرمل البقاعيّة شمال شرق لبنان.
عِشِقَ الكتابةَ والعملَ الإعلاميّ منذ طفولته، فتدرّب في سنِّ المراهقة على تغطيةِ نشاطاتِ المُقاوِمينَ لصالحِ إذاعةٍ محلّيّةٍ أطلقتها المقاومة، وانتقل بعد سنواتٍ من تلك التجربةِ إلى العمل الإحترافيّ مُذيعاً في إذاعةِ "صوت المُستضعَفين"، ثمِّ في قناةِ العالم الإخباريّة، وتبوّأ لاحقاً منصبَ مدير البرامج السّياسيِّة.
وفي عام 2004 لَمعَ نجمُه كواحدٍ من بين أكثر المراسلين الحربيّينَ جرأةً في جنوب لبنان، إذ غَطّى أحداث الحربِ برفقةِ المُقاوِمين طوال 33 يوماً، لمْ يترك فيها ساحات المعارك أبداً، مُكذِّباً الدعايةَ الصهيونيّةَ بالصوتِ والصورة.
انتقلَ في عام 2010 إلى دمشقَ ليعمل فيها كمديرٍ لمكتب قناتي العالم وبرس الإيرانية، مع إندلاع الحرب على سوريّةَ تحوّلَ حسين مرتضى من إعلاميّ إلى آلةِ حرب نفسيّةٍ تُقاومُ دعاية الأعداء، حتّى وصفه المقاومونَ في سوريةَ بــ "فيلق الحرب النفسيّة".
في هذا الكتاب بعضٌ من تجاربه في تلكَ الحرب.
