في كتابه هذا، يقرأ نايف عبد الله النوايسة فلسطين من بوابة الشعر، ومنطلقة في هذا العمل (فلسطين في الشعر الأردني) ليس هو إثبات حميمية العلاقة بين الشعبين الأخوين، بل هو تأكيد هذه العلاقة من باب أن فلسفة التوكيد هي تعظيم المؤكد عليهما ومباركة ما هما فيه ... لذلك جاء الكتاب متضمناً قصائد الشعراء الذين أفردوا للموضوع الفلسطيني عدداً من قصائدهم من الشعراء الأردنيين.
يبدأ الكتاب بتمهيد عن العلاقة المميزة بين الشعبين الأردني والفلسطيني، يتبع ذلك خمسة اقسام حملت العناوين الآتية: (فلسطين ما بين الإنتفاضتين 1987 و2000) وسجل المؤلف لبعض الملامح الخاصة التي أبدعتها قرائح الشعراء وأجادت فيها، مثل: صورة الشهيد وصورة اللاجئ وصورة الفدائي وصورة المخيم وصورة المدنية. وجاءت الشواهد والنماذج الشعرية من الشعر العمودي الذي واكب مراحل نضال الشعب الفلسطيني وصموده ونكباته المتعددة، والشعر الحر وبداياته، وأورد المؤلف أيضاً لبعض الشعراء فيوضهم الشعرية وأساليبهم الفنية. وألحق الكتاب بقصائد هي منتخبات من الشعر الفلسطيني للشعراء: هيام الدردنجي، عبد المنعم الرفاعي، جميل علوش، محمد القيسي ... وآخرون.
