يعد المجتمع الأردني كيان مستقل، وذو شخصية مستقلة، نشأ نتيجة اختلاط وتزاوج وهجرات لجماعات كثيرة، استقرت على أرضه، وقد ازدادت أهمية الأردن ومركزه بسبب ما حدث فيه من تطور في مختلف مناحي حياته، حتى أضحى في مقدمة الدول العربية بالرغم من قلة عدد سكانه، ومحدودية موارده الطبيعية.
وقد حقق الأردن تطوراً هائلاً وسريعاً في مجالات شتى خلال فترة وجيزة ففي المجال الاقتصادي فقد ارتفع معدل النمو إلى (7.2) عام 2005م وارتفع نصيب الفرد من الناتج المحلي إلى (1649.1) دينار وفي مجال الرعاية الصحية فقد انخفض معدل وفيات الأطفال الرضع من (29) إلى (22) طفل لكل مولود حي. وفي مجال التعليم فقد انخفضت نسبة الأمية في المملكة إلى (8.9) عام 2005م كما وأن التعليم إلزامي ومجاني في المرحلة الأساسية.
وكذلك فإن القيادة الهاشمية تحرص على تقليص الفجوة بين الرجال والنساء على كافة الصعد من أجل النهوض بالمرأة وتعزيز دورها في المجتمع الحديث، وتحققت لها مكاسب جوهرية بتوليها مناصب رفيعة في كافة المواقع والمستويات.
ويأتي كتاب المجتمع الأردني ليسلط الضوء وبشمولية على هذا المجتمع من نواحي متعددة إضافة نوعية للعلم والمعرفة والاستزادة بما هو مفيد ونافع.
