غيرت الحربُ حياتي مرتين ونفتني مرتين، مرةً إلى بلادي الأم ومرةً منها، مرةً طفلاً ومرةً شاباً، ولذا فإن هذا الكتاب، في أحد وجوهه، ثأرٌ شخصي صغير من الحروب ومقترفيها. هو الأغنية التي وقفت بوجه المدفع وقطرة الندى التي أغرقت نهر الدم. جمعتُ هذه القصائد على مدى عامين واجتهدتُ في أن أبقي أرقها وأقربها من روح الهايكو وأكثرها تعبيراً عن فجائع الحروب. بعض شعراء هذه القصائد محترفون وبعضهم الآخر هواة، منهم الجندي والمحارب القديم، ومنهم الضحية والقتيل حياً.
