ولصُحَار أسماء قديمة عديدة منها: مزون ومجان، تثبت أهميتها التاريخية وتأثيرها القوي، وأضيفت لها أهمية أخرى بدخول مبعوث رسول الله عليه أفضل الصلوات وأزكى التسليم الصحابي الجليل عمرو بن العاص (رضي الله عنه) عندما وقف بين يدي ملكي عُمان آنذاك عبد وجيفر ابني الجلندي اللذين استقبلاء بعاصمة ملكهم صُحَار، لتكون بعدها هذه المدينة إشعاعاً منيراً للإسلام على هذه الأرض الطيبة دون إراقة دماء أو وقع حوافز الفرسان.
وقد أجاد الكاتب "حسن بن عبد الرحمن الهنيامي" استعراض هذه السياقات التاريخية والفترة الزمنية الحاضرة، فكتابه يتضمن سلسلة من الأحداث والتفاصيل التي ستظل مرتبطة بولاية صُحَار.
