هذا الكتاب هو حصيلة سنوات خمس عشرة، بدأت في أخبار شركة التلفزيون اللبنانية (القناة7) سنة 1971، وانتهت بالدائرة الإذاعية في الوكالة الوطنية للإعلام، في وزارة الإعلام اللبنانية، ومؤلف الكتاب عمل في الأخبار التلفزيونية والإذاعية معداً ومذيعاً، وفي البرامج التلفزيونية والإذاعية معداً أو مذيعاً، وعاصر عهود متعاقبة في وزارة الإعلام، وقدم اقتراحات عديدة لإصلاح شأن الإعلام الرسمي.
والفصول الخمسة الأولى من الكتاب وضعت لاستنتاج خلاصة التجربة في المسائل الخمس الكبرى المتعلقة بالشأن الإعلامي الرسمي: الانحياز السياسي، ووحدة لبنان، وعروبة لبنان، والتحريض على العنف، والغزو الثقافي. وأما الفصول الأخرى فتضم على الخصوص مقترحات رفعت من السابق إلى المسؤولية في شأن إصلاح أخبار التلفزة والإذاعة، وفي المسائل الموسيقية واختيار الأغاني وما يليها. وفي الفصول الأخيرة من الكتاب محاضرة ألقيت في جمع من أساتذة كلية التربية -الجامعة اللبنانية- وكانت حديثاً في التربية والإعلام.
نقد للتجربة الإعلامية الرسمية في لبنان، بعد عمل المؤلف 15 سنة في التلفزة والإذاعة الرسميين. وهو يحلل الأخطاء والخطايا التي ارتكبها الإعلام الرسمي في الحرب اللبنانية، في معالجته لموقف الطوائف اللبنانية المختلفة، وموقفه من التراث العربي، وعدم تبصره بخطر الترويج للعنف. ويتضمن مذكرة لخطة إصلاح مقترحة.
