يقدم هذا الكتاب دراسةُ حول دور الإعلام اللبناني في عملية مكافحة الفساد، الظاهرة الآخذة في التفاقم إلى حدٍّ بات يُصنّف فيه لبنان من الدول الأكثر فساداً في العالم.
وتكمن أهميّة الكتاب في عنصرين أساسيين: الأول: أنه يشكّل للصحافيين والإعلاميين عموماً، وفي لبنان خصوصاً، مرجعاً علميّاً يبحث في الموقع الحقيقي للإعلام اللبناني في خارطة التغيير الإجتماعي، مُقارباً الموضوع من المنظور الإصلاحي في ضوء المحدّدات النظرية والقانونية والسياسية، وينقَّب في الأسباب الجذرية المؤدية إلى ضعف أدائه أو عدم فعاليته رغم توافر أحد أهم المقومات الرئيسية لديه مقارنةً بالدول المجاورة، وهي حرية الرأي والتعبير.
الثاني: أنه يتضمّن دراسة، هي الأولى من نوعها، حول واقع البرامج الإعلامية اللبنانية المتخصصة بقضايا الفساد التي تُصنّف ضمن إطار "الإصلاح"، والواقع أن المؤلف بدأ العمل في الدراسة مطلع العام 2013 تحضيراً لشهادة الماجستير في علوم الإعلام والإتصال، حينها لم يكن على الساحة الإعلامية سوى برنامجين تلفزيونيين مصنّفين ضمن هذا الإطار، ثم بدأ عددُها يزداد تباعاً، لذا، وبعد نيل الشهادة، إرتأى إعدادها للنشر ككتاب يشكّل أول مرجعٍ علمي في حقل ما يُعرّف بـ "الإعلام الإصلاحي" في لبنان.
يعرّف الكتاب بميادين الفساد الأكثر تناولاً في هذه البرامج، ويكشف مدى قدرتها على لعب دور الصحافة المُسانِدة لعمل مؤسسات الرقابة ومدى حرصها على تقديم أدلّة موثّقة، وحدود إهتمامها بالقضايا المطروحة لجهة ما إذا كان يقتصر على العرض التقليدي السطحي أم يتخطاه سعياً للتوصل إلى حلول ومعالجات، كما يكشف مدى إلتزامها المعايير المهنية والأخلاقية، في محاولة لمعرفة درجة تحمّل الإعلام اللبناني للمسؤولية الإجتماعية المترتّبة عليه، في مجتمعٍ بلغّ حدّ الفساد البنيوي.
