رأيت على مدخل الكهف الذي أحرقت من بداخله، ومن كان حوله، حفرة تشبه محجر العين تنظر إليّ. شعرت بالقشعريرة تسري في جسدي، نعم هناك عين تنظر إليّ. عين كبيرة، تتفحّصني وتخوّفني. أردت أن أصرخ، بل كان الصراخ في حلقي.
أناااااااااااااااااااااا من قتلهم. أحرقتهم، بعثرتهم أشلاء، بعجت بطون أغنامهم، وقتلت أمهم.
لكن قدم أحد الرفاق اصطدمت بقدمي، وانتشلني من خوفي. تلك العين لا تزال تناظرني، أراها في منامي، وفي هيئات أطفال بلا ملامح، أراهم في السحب المطيرة، وفي القمر، وفي أي شيء يعتبره الناس جميلا.
أما أنا فلم يعد يعني لي الجمال أو الراحة أو الرفاهية أي شيء. فقدت ذلك الإحساس، منذ أن لاحقتني تلك العين الحاقدة والغاضبة، نظرة العين المظلومة والمكلومة، لكنها لا تفصح عن ذلك.
ليت الكهف نطق وأزاح عني هذا الثقل الجاثم عليّ، ليت العين قالت: "أيها الناس هذا هو القاتل" وأشارت إليّ. وردّد المكان الصدى: "قاتلللل...قاتلللل".
تمنّيت لو أن الأطفال وأمهم نفضوا التراب عن أجسادهم، وأشاروا بأصابع ينثال عنها التراب، وقالوا: "أنت قاتلنا"، وأخذوا حقهم بأياديهم مني في تلك اللحظة. ليس مني فقط، بل ممّن وشى بهم، وأبلغ عنهم غرفة العمليات التي لم يشاهد أفرادها ما شاهدته هناك.
