المجتمع النبوي في عهد صدر الإسلام وما بعده هو المجال الذي اختار الكاتب مختار خواجة الحديث عنه في كتابه "أطياف الأحبة" ويفعل ذلك من خلال تتبع أولى مراحل الدعوة الإسلامية التي جاءت عن طريق سيد هذه الأمة النبي محمد عليه الصلاة والسلام وكيفية تلقي من آمن بها ومن كفر بها. لذلك تحضر في هذه السيرة (الشخصيات القرآنية) التي ورد ذكرها في القرآن الكريم مثل شخصية النبي عليه السلام وصاحبه أبي بكر رضي الله عنه، و(الشخصيات الإسلامية) وهي التي عرفت بطابعها الإسلامي العقائدي، ولكن لم يأتِ ذكرها في القرآن الكريم، ولكن جاءت في التاريخ العربي والإسلامي مثل صحابة رسول الله وآل بيته وقادة المعارك والمحاربين والشهداء وغيرهم ممن وضعوا بصمتهم في تاريخ الدعوة إلى الإسلام والدفاع عنه.
هذه الأحداث تم تظهيرها في "أطياف الأحبة" عبر فعل القول بأنواعه، فالكاتب مختار خواجه بدا وكأنه يمتلك دينامية متميزة في التعبير وتقديم الوقائع وتنظيم مادة السرد، فهو لم تفته المزاوجة بين أساليب (الإقناع) التي تعتمد على العقل، وأساليب (الإمتاع) التي تنهض على افتتان المتلقي بجماليات التعبير اللغوي بمختلف تجلياته ومستوياته وطبقاته، فعلى الرغم من وجود السمة الفنية في شكل حضور الشخصيات الدينية والتاريخية إلَّا أن الكاتب احتفظ بدلالتها الواقعية كشخصيات مقدسة تبقى محافظة على حضورها الذهني بتفصيلاته الواقعية المخزونة في ذاكرة كل مسلم، وهو الشيء الذي يميز هذا الكتاب عن غيره من كتب تناولت تاريخ الدعوة إلى الإسلام.
