يُعتبر كتاب الحرية للفيلسوف البريطاني آيزايا بيرلن من أهم النصوص الفلسفية في القرن العشرين عن موضوع الحرية، ويتميز هذا النص بأمور، منها أن هذه نسخة محققة وكاملة للكتاب وقد اعتنى بها هنري هاردي محقق كتبه والوصي على تراثه العلمي وكاتب مسيرته.
وقد شملت هذه الطبعة مقدمات وملاحق مهمة لا توجد في كثير من الطبعات السابقة باللغة الإنجليزية واللغات الأخرى، وكان الكتاب قد اشتهر عند ظهوره قبل أكثر من أربعين عاماً بعنوانه القديم "أربعة مقالات في الحرية".
أما هذه الطبعة فهي موسعة بما كتب بيرلن من بعد في الموضوع، وفيها ملاحق مهمة ورسائل للمؤلف مع شخصيات فكرية وسياسية عديدة، وقد التزمنا بنشر النص كاملاً والملاحق، حتى تلك التي تبدو غير مهمة كبعض أعمال المؤلف الأدبية في شبابه.
