إن كتاب منهج البلاغة لأمير المؤمنين الإمام علي رضي الله عنه لهو خير كتاب بعد كتاب الله. فهو يجمع ما بين طرائف الحكمة وروائع الأمثال وبليغ المواعظ وأحسن الآداب، مع سحر البيان الذي لا يملك من يقف على شاطئه إلا التسليم بأن هذا البحر الذي يبهر العقول فيأخذ بجامع القلوب فيه من اللآلئ والعجائب ما يحتاج إلى الغوص لإخراجه ليكون بين يدي عاشقي الحق والحقيقة قرة عين لهم، وبضاعة لها في كل زمان،ومكان تجارة لن تبور. وليس بالجديد ولا بالغريب القول أن وصية الإمام أمير المؤمنين رضي الله عنه إلى ولده الإمام الحسن هي من نوادر هذه اللآلئ وعيون هذه الجواهر، فكان لها أن تكتب بماء الذهب على صفحات القلوب. من هنا يأتي إختيار هذه المقطوعة البلاغية ( بالوصية الذهبية ) فهي الجامعة لمكارم الأخلاق، المشتملة على بليغ المواعظ والأمثال لتضع الفرد المسلم على الطريق الصحيح وتهديده إلى الصراط المستقيم، وهي الكفيلة لما أخذ بها ونهج على خطاها أن يحظى بسعادة الدارين، وبالفوز الحقيقي، فيعيش حالة الإطمئنان النفسي متمتعاً بقوة القلب وبرباطة الجأش، لا يتزلزل ولا ينحرف وقد وضع قدميه على أساس صلب متين. إنها وصية الناصح الأمين الذي يدور معه الحق حيثما دار، وصية من علمه رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم ألف باب في العلم يفتح له من كل ألف باب. إنها وبحق ولمن ينظر فيها من أولها إلى آخرها سيجزم أنها أفضل وأنفع وأجمع وصية عرفها التاريخ وسجلتها صحف العقلاء والحكماء. وهي إلى ذلك دستور يقدمه الوالد إلى ولده ليسير عليه ويباهي به الأمم. وما أحوج الإنسانية اليوم إلى مثل هذه الوصايا والإرشادات التي تضم بين ثناياه ضير الدنيا والآخرة لمن كان له عقل سليم ورأي سديد. هذا وقد إرتأى الشارح وقبل الشروع في شرح هذه الوصية الذهبية أن يضع مدخلاً يتطلب التعريف بإيجاز بسيرة أمير المؤمنين الإمام علي رضي الله عنه وولده المجتبى ريحانة رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم الإمام الحسن.
