تحاول هذه الدراسة تكثيف الأسباب وتظهر العوارض المتّصلة بموضوع القلق في شعر بدر شاكر السيّاب، وأثر ذلك في تحديد الهواجس المحضة التي استبدّت بالشاعر، وإنعكاس مفاعيلها على منحى التشكيل الفنّي لشعره؛ وذلك في مسار البحث عن المحرّك الرئيس لإندفاعاته الشعرية المكتوية بلهيب الألم والتمزّق، والمتخبّطة يأساً وحزناً، تطلّعاً وحلماً، في الطريق إلى تلمّس سبل الخلاص الفردي والجماعي.
لقد كان حلم الشاعر مقطوعاً دائماً، لأنّ أزمته الروحية والفكرية لم تكن سوى وجه من وجوه الأزمة العامة في زمانه، فهواجس القلق المتولّدة من إصطدام المطلق بالنسبي، والمثال بالواقع، والعام بالخاص، والذات بالآخر، شغلته بالماضي ورموزه وعالمه النقيّ.
وهذا الإنشغال بالماضي كان يتفاقم كلّما ازداد وعي الشاعر بالموقف القائم؛ الأمر الذي أوقعه في بركان الإضطراب وزلزال الإنقسام النفسي الحاد اللذين حالاً دون إتخاذه القرار المرتكز إلى صلابة في الفكر والرؤى بإقتحام المستقبل، فارتدّ الشاعر إلى ماضيه يبحث في أفيائه عن الأمان، وإلى الذات عندما كان العالم الخارجي يقف سدّاً أمامه...!.
