هذا شعر اريد به أن يفهم فى ضوء الشعر العربى ، فربما احتوى على البيت أو جزء البيت من الشعر القديم ، وربما كتب فى ضوء تجربة لابد من استحضارها في القراءة ، كثير ممن يقفون عند هذة المسألة مازالوا منغلقين فى أفكار بالية .
وكثير ممن يبحثون الشعر كذلك لم يتحولوا بعد عن النظر إلى الشعر باعتباره تعبيرا عن التجربة على النحو الساذج القديم ، كانما الشعر تصوير للواقع ، وإنما الشعر ينيط الشعر ويتولد منه ، وهذا ما أردت أن ألفت اليه القارئ قبل الدخول إلى الديوان .
إن هذا الشعر أخيرا أريد به أن يكون نتاجا عصريا مستنبتا من أرض التراث الشعرى القديم بشروطه المرهقة جميعا : أن يكون قديما حديثا ناشئا فى أفق طبيعى من امتداد القديم وانسرابه فى الحديث وهذة حقيقة فهمها بعض الأذكياء ممن لم يكونوا نقادا للشعر.
