خلال هذا العام (2001) تكون قد مرت أربعون سنة منذ تأسيس منظمة التحرير الفلسطينية، وثلاثون سنة على إعلان "البرنامج المرحلي" لمنظمة التحرير (الذي أسس لفكرة المرحلية ولفكرة قياس سلطة وطنية في المناطق المحتلة في حرب 1967)، وأربعة أعوام منذ اندلاع انتفاضة الأقصى. وهي مناسبات كبيرة ومفصلية في تاريخ الحركة الوطنية الفلسطينية، طبعت نضالها خلال مساره الطويل المتعرج. ومن الطبيعي أن يعاد فتح ملف العمل الوطني الفلسطيني في ضوء حصيلة هذه الحقبة من تراكمات النجاح والإخفاق فيه للتأمل في دروسها، واستيعاب ما يحتاج إلى استيعاب من تلك الدروس. وليس من شك في أن تناول تجربة منظمة التحرير والانتفاضة يقع في قلب تلك الحاجة إلى إعادة فتح ذلك الملف.
