إن إستعمال أدوات الحرب في النصوص القرآنية بجميع صورها وأشكالها جاءت معبرة عن معانٍ ودلالات تختلف عن ما كان تستعمله أو تتداوله البشرية في كل العصور وإلى يوم القيامة، إذ أنها عبرت عن خوارق ومعجزات الطبيعة ونواميسها التي ظهرت على يد الأنبياء والرسول (رضي الله عنهم جميعاً).
إذ ثمة هناك إستعمالات متنوعة ومختلفة للأدوات على وفق ورود الأداة في سياق الآيات القرآنية، إذ استعملت بمعناها الواسع في كلمات عدّة منها "القوة، العدة، الآلة، والسلاح"، وبألفاظ وكلمات خاصة تنحصر بالمعنى الضيق للكلمة (الخيل، الجندي، السيف، الرمح، الفيل، الطير، السهم، العصا، الريح، البحر، الأسرى، الهدهد، الجن، الملائكة... إلخ)، فضلاً عن أدوات الإستعداد للقتال التي كان هدفها الرئيسي الجهوزية للحرب والردع الإستراتيجي للعدو الذي كان وما زال يتربص بالمسلمين، وقد جاءت هذه الأدوات في سياق النصوص القرآنية بأساليب جميلة وكثيفة ومعبرة جداً عن واقع الحدث الذي استخدمت فيه، هذا ما يخص أسباب اختيار الموضوع، أما خطة الكتاب فإنها قائمة على تمهيد وثلاثة فصول: تناول التمهيد (الأداة إصطلاحاً وسيرورة تاريخية) مفهوم الأداة لغة وإصطلاحاً، وتداخله وترادفه وإختلافه مع مفاهيم ومصطلحات دلت على معاني الإستعانة والقوة مثل العدّة، والآلة، والسلاح، ثم تطرق التمهيد إلى سيرورة تاريخية حددت أدوات الحرب في عصر ما قبل الإسلام أو ما تم أرشفته في المدونات القديمة لأنواع الأسلحة العربية القديمة ولا سيما التي حفظها الخطاب الشعري العربي القديم.
