وظائفه: أستاذ الأدب المملوكي بجامعة دمشق.

Book Description
موضوع هذه الدراسة هو أدب الصناع وأرباب الحرف، الذين يشكلون إتجاهاً واضحاً في الأدب العربي في العصر المملوكي، وهم مجموعة من الأدباء الذين اضطرهم الإخفاق في كسب عيشهم من الأدب إلى إتخاذ الحرفة وسيلة للعيش، إضافة إلى الحرفيين الذين أوتوا الموهبة الأدبية، وتطلعوا إلى حياة الأدباء، فشاركوا في النشاط الأدبي.
والغرابة في أمر هؤلاء هو جمعهم بين الحرفة والأدب على بُعد ما بين النشاطين في الطبيعة والهدف والإستعداد اللازم لكل منهما.
ومن يتابع المبدعين في الأدب العربي، سيجد عدداً كبيراً من الذين انتقلوا من الحرفة إلى الأدب، أو ظلوا يجمعون بين الحرفة والأدب، وهذه ظاهرة قديمة تنبه عليها الأدباء، ولكنها اشتدت واتسعت في العصر المملوكي، حتى صعب على الباحث أن يلم بعددهم، وأن يستوفي أدبهم كله، وخاصة في ضوء بقاء قسم كبير من كتب الأدب مخطوطاً وحبيس المكتبات.
وقد اتسع مفهوم الحرفة وضاق في ذلك العصر، وهذا يضع صعوبة في المقاييس التي تحدد إنتماء هذا الأديب أو ذاك لأدباء الحرف، لأن الأدب كان يعد من الحرف، وكذلك القضاء والفقه والطب والهندسة، إلا أن المقياس الذي اخترته هو ما تتطلبه الحرفة من ثقافة ومعرفة، ولذلك استبعد البحث الأدباء أصحاب الثقافة العالية مثل القضاة والفقهاء والأطباء والمهندسين، الذين تتيح لهم ثقافتهم الإبداع الأدبي، ولم يأخذ منهم إلا أصحاب الثقافة الضحلة والذين لم يشتهروا في علومهم، وخاصة أصحاب العلوم البعيدة عن الادب مثل الطب والهندسة، وجاء في المقام الأول أصحاب الحرف اليدوية والأميّون الذين لا يعرفون القراءة والكتابة، ولا يعرف لهم إشتغال في علم من العلوم.
