يتتبع هذا الكتاب تاريخ الكنيسة الإنطاكية المارونية من أقدم العصور إلى اليوم وذلك عبر تقصي ما كتب عنها في كتب المؤلفين القدماء والمعاصرين، فتحدث عن تاريخ هذه الكنيسة منذ نشأتها وترجم لبعض قديسيها، وما حدث فيها من الشؤون والتقلبات، وما آل إليه أمر الراسخين في الأمانة الرسولية بعد انتشار الأرطقات غير مغض عن إثبات من هم الذين استمسكوا بقويم التعليم، وحفظوا في الديار المشرقية هذه وديعة الإيمان القويم، مورداً لذلك من الشهادات ما أبقته الحوادث من كتب العلماء السالفين. ومن يعول على نقلهم وقولهم من المتأخرين. المرجوع إلى شهادتهم والمأخوذ بروايتهم إلى غير ذلك مما يستوعبه سياق الكلام وتقتضيه الحقيقة في كل مقام ضاماً إليه رسائل لعلماء أعلام الخ.
ويحتوي الكتاب أيضاً حديث على سلسلة بطاركة الكنيسة الإنطاكية المارونية وأعمالهم الرسولية، وما كانوا عليه وكان لهم في غابر الزمان، وما هو عليه الآن، مع إلمامه إلى تتمة ملخص تاريخ الأمة المارونية، وتقلب أحوالها الزمانية والمكانية، إلى غير ذلك من تاريخ الرهبانيات، وإثبات بعض المنقولات، وذكرها كان من المجامع المكانية، والرسوم الطائفية الخ.
كما وفي الكتاب تبيان ليتورجية هذه الكنيسة وفروضها الطقسية، ومعتقداتها وجل قوانينها البيعية، وشرح لدرجات ووظائف أهل الكهنوت وكيفية وصفها وتقديمه الذبيحة الإلهية، ورموز الملابس الكهنوتية إلى غير ذلك من تكريم الأيقونات والعبادات والعادات.
إلى جانب هذا يضم الكتاب وفي خاتمته قاموساً لا غنى عنه ولا بد منه وهو يضم كل المتفرقات التاريخية وغير التاريخية، تلك التيس تدعيها المقام في تاريخ هذه الكنيسة الإنطاكية من كاثوليكيين وغير كاثوليكيين، مما يتوق إليه المطالعون ويتوقعه الراغبون، مع ذكر من اشتهر في علماء تلك الكنيسة.
